With Thanksgiving behind us and Christmas and year-end rapidly approaching, I thought a “Christmas-themed” sales tax post might be fun.
Here’s to “The “12 Days of Sales Tax”:

-
On the first day of sales tax, my auditor gave to me – a notice of a large assessment.
-
On the second day of sales tax, my boss gave to me – two invoices with no sales tax.
-
On the third day of sales tax, my sales team brought to me – three taxability questions.
-
On the fourth day of sales tax, the mailman brought to me – four nexus questionnaires.
-
On the fifth day of sales tax, my auditor gave to me – five audit notices!
-
On the sixth day of sales tax, my boss asked me to complete – six GL account recons.
-
On the seventh day of sales tax, my email gave to me – seven vendors telling me sales tax is easy.
-
On the eighth day of sales tax, my AP department sent back to me – eight check requests.
-
On the ninth day of sales tax, my telephone brought to me – nine jurisdictional inquiries.
-
On the tenth day of sales tax, my marketing team brought to me – ten new product launches.
-
On the eleventh day of sales tax, the mailman brought to me – eleven sales tax rate changes.
-
On the twelfth day of sales tax, my email gave to me – twelve overdue tax returns.
After you read through the list once, then you might want to go back through again and sing it – do this in your head though – unless you’re one of those types that actually enjoys bad karaoke. (We have one of those in our office.)
