Our Third Year of 100% Sales Tax Practitioner Retention

By Brian Greer on Tue, Nov 29, 2011 @ 09:11 AM

We are thrilled with the success of our practitioner model!  I'll tell you why....

From the beginning, TaxConnex's approach to Sales and Use Tax compliance was a bit different.  We took the long view, a view that said "quality mattered" and that the key metric for client success was lowest total cost, not lowest cost per-return.  We refused to become another sales tax factory that cranked out the most returns at the lowest cost per-return.  We didn't crank up the production line to run as fast as it could, and then staff operation with the lowest cost employees we could find.

Instead, we took the road less traveled and did sales and use tax the way that we thought was right.  Sure, the cost per-return might be a little higher, but over the long run, clients experience lower total costs, fewer issues and less aggravation.  To make this happen, we employed Sales Tax Pracitioners - quality, degreed professionals that are committed to sales and use tax, and to giving their clients the best service and advice possible.

We couldn't do sales and use tax the TaxConnex Way without our practitioners.  So, again we are proud to announce that we have another year of 100% practitioner retention (and customer retention as well).  High retention rates mean that we continue to work with our valued colleagues and that our clients continue to benefit from the stability of their TaxConnex relationship.

With that said...we will be posting this press release on November 30....

TaxConnex, America’s leading independent provider of sales and use tax outsourcing services, celebrates its third consecutive year of 100% sales tax practitioner retention.  Practitioners provide sales and use tax services by preparing and filing returns, addressing sales tax nexus and taxability questions, and delivering continuous support.

“Another year of 100% Sales Tax Practitioner retention is a great milestone for TaxConnex because the sales tax practitioner model is at the heart of how we do business”, states Brian Greer, VP at TaxConnex.  “The Practitioner acts as the client’s off-premise sales tax employee.  There is an investment that clients and Practitioners make in the relationship, so stability clearly benefits the client, but these relationships are also a source of satisfaction for our Practitioners.  Our Practitioners are degreed professionals that take pride in their work.  The Practitioners are the clients’ primary point of contact and the main representative of TaxConnex and we appreciate all that they do.”

“I’ve been with TaxConnex since the beginning”, says Terry Fontaine, a Practitioner at TaxConnex.  “TaxConnex looks at sales tax outsourcing differently.  Instead of just preparing returns, my clients rely on me as their telecom tax resource.  Playing that key role for my clients is gratifying and makes me directly accountable to them for their satisfaction."

VoIP Taxes and a VoIP Tax Guidebook

By Brian Greer on Wed, Nov 16, 2011 @ 10:19 AM

There are few days where I don’t speak with a new VoIP service provider who is concerned about VoIP taxes.   I get calls from current telecom service providers, internet service providers, cable operators, and even technology/systems integrators.

TaxConnex Launches Lunch & Learn Program Focused on Sales Tax Nexus

TaxConnex Launches Lunch & Learn Program Focused on Sales Tax Nexus

TaxConnex announces the newest edition to their Lunch & Learn series, “Top Five Issues that Create Sales Tax Nexus”.

“Top Five Issues that Create Sales Tax Nexus” focuses on common nexus creating issues including traveling sales reps, trade shows, Amazon laws, contract labor, and applying income tax nexus rules to sales tax nexus.

“Sales tax is a very specialized field.  Many local and regional public accounting firms do not have the in-house expertise to address today’s complex sales tax issues,” says VP Brian Greer.  We developed the sales tax nexus program because this issue is becoming increasingly complex.  Sales tax nexus affects businesses in all industries but especially technology, telecommunications providers, and small to mid-sized companies.”

TaxConnex's Lunch & Learn program is directed toward CPA’s and public accounting firms that lack an in-house sales tax practice. The Lunch & Learn series provides CPAs and public accounting firms with an overview of relevant sales tax nexus issues, real-life examples, and an opportunity for firm employees to address questions specific to their clients' needs. These events are non-invasive and provide CPAs and their staff with real world, relevant sales tax information.

A recent Lunch & Learn participate summed up the experience, saying “The program provided by TaxConnex was right on target with issues we face on a daily basis.  Our employees left the session with real answers to real questions, not just text book material with limited real world application.”

For additional details or to schedule a Lunch & Learn for your firm, contact Brian Greer.

Sales Tax Nexus for VoIP Service Providers

By Brian Greer on Thu, Jul 07, 2011 @ 01:03 PM

At least once each week a VoIP service provider asks me about sales tax nexus creating activities for their business.  (For purposes of our discussion sales tax nexus refers to transaction tax nexus including sales and telecommunications taxes.)
