This year, the city of Boulder expects to collect $500,000 from taxes on medical marijuana. Marijuana, previously a cost center for the city, is now a profit center. This follows the leader, Oakland, CA, which was this first city in the country to vote to tax marijuana.

As tax revenues from sales increase, it makes you wonder to what extent jurisdictions will be willing to go to build these revenues. Is the "War on Drugs" becoming the "Battle for Revenue"?
