Position Summary: 

The Sales Tax Analyst is a critical member of the Operations team at TaxConnex. The key responsibility is to develop and lead a world class sales tax knowledge management function. This role will support the entire company by staying current with sales tax updates and translating that knowledge into instruction and training materials. In addition, this role will assist practitioners to research/solve tax questions and resolve client issues.

The overall objective is to provide the knowledge to assist with Practitioner education and efficiency as well as ensure the internal team has the necessary capability and knowledge to successfully onboard new clients.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Knowledge Management

• Research and stay current with state and local S&U compliance requirements/changes
• Define communication and action plans outlining the impact of legislative and regulatory tax law developments to clients and practitioners
• Document jurisdictional changes and/or sales tax filing requirements
• Develop articles/white papers for staff and practitioners on sales tax matters

Training

• Develop and conduct tax technical and jurisdictional compliance training to practitioners and employees

Tax Technical Support

• Serve as a super-user and subject matter expert on sales tax and compliance related items
• Resolve Client Critical Care issues, as assigned

Support new client onboarding

• Assist in understanding and translating business rules to data processing requirements
• Conduct monthly compliance reviews and debrief with Client Activation team members

Sales Tax Compliance (as needed)

• As a sales tax compliance firm, this role may need to occasionally assist with the monthly compliance (i.e., file and remit taxes for customers)

Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

A proven track record with timely preparing and filing sales/use and/or telecommunications returns. Experience with coaching and training on sales/use and/or telecommunication rules and regulations.

Project Management / Client Services

• 1-3 years demonstrated client services experience
• Strong focus on managing and completing tasks on time
• Ability to organize projects/tasks to meet commitments

Technology, Data and Research

• Grasp of business applications and technology systems in support of operational processes.
• Intermediate level skills with Excel and Adobe (PDF Creator / Form Creator)
• A proven track record conducting research and translating to business requirements

Education and professional

• 5+ Sales and use tax experience is required
• A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, finance, or tax schooling is preferred
• Knowledge of accounting principles required

Note: this role is for hybrid candidates, those who reside in the Atlanta area will have to come into the office.
