Client Activation Manager

Position Summary

The Client Activation Manager (CAM) is a crucial member of the TaxConnex Operations Services team. Their contributions are essential to the company's success in onboarding new clients and ensuring compliance with sales tax regulations. The role is dynamic and diverse, involving various responsibilities such as project management, tax research, data transformation, tax accounting/reporting, and tax process controls. This variety ensures that every day brings new challenges and opportunities for growth.   

Essential Functions

Project Management and Client Engagement 

  • Ensure timely and accurate communication with clients regarding their requirements and timelines. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to meet client filing deadlines and achieve onboarding objectives. 
  • Perform additional duties or ad hoc projects as assigned by the director. 

Client Tax Review and Data Setup 

  • Review and analyze clients' previous sales tax returns and tax data, identifying business requirements related to Sales and Use Tax. 
  • Communicate with clients to confirm data requirements based on their business rules and perform necessary data transformations for accurate tax return mapping. 
  • Provide recommendations on tax-related regulations, processes, and transactions to help clients fulfill their obligations and maximize benefits. 

Compliance 

  • Review month-end compliance reports and reconciliations for clients in the activation stage before they transition to full-time practitioners. 
  • Register clients in new jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. 

Mentoring 

  • Foster collaboration among team members by providing constructive feedback and sharing best practices to empower colleagues in their roles and development. 

Location 

  • This position can be remote from FL, SC, GA, TX, or VA, or hybrid from our Alpharetta office.

Position Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or an equivalent field. 
  • 3-5 years of experience in indirect taxes, including Sales & Use and Communications Tax, and experience dealing with tax jurisdictions. 
  • Experience in filing Sales and Use Tax returns. 
  • Intermediate computer technical skills, particularly in MS Excel. 
  • Experience with multiple tax software packages. 
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with various departments and management levels. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and validate client-provided transactional data. 
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask to meet strict activation and filing deadlines.
