Sales Tax Senior Compliance Analyst

Position Summary: 

This position is a hybrid work location. Candidates must be able and willing to come into the office multiple days per week. Therefore, candidates must be in the Alpharetta/Atlanta, Georgia area. Do not apply if you are not in the Alpharetta/Atlanta area. 

 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful and quickly growing Sales and Use Tax company in Alpharetta, Georgia! We are currently hiring a Sales Tax Sr. Compliance Analyst. The Sales Tax Sr. Compliance Analyst is a critical member of the TaxConnex Client and Practitioner Services team and a major contributor to the company’s success. As a Sr. Compliance Analyst, you will support the tax compliance process, working closely with the client activation managers and other cross-functional teams. This role will accelerate sales by ensuring the client activation/onboarding process delivers a high-quality transition to the practitioner.  

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Sales and use tax services:

  • Timely transmittal of accurately prepared sales and use tax returns to jurisdictions in accordance with the client tax calendar
  • Translate and import client sales and use tax data into compliance software
  • Apply eligible credits to tax liabilities
  • Prepare monthly cash requests and communication to the client of cash due
  • Manage debits, credits, and check payments to jurisdictions
  • Follow TaxConnex™ processes and system

Support activating new clients for sales tax outsourcing services:

  • Apply for and manage sales tax registrations
  • Document client-specific tax data and sales tax processing instructions
  • Review client tax data and communicate requirements
  • Confirm requirements for custom reports
  • Prepare tax calendar and return setup
  • Confirm and troubleshoot client set-up in TaxConnex™ and Third-Party systems
  • Verify E-file login credentials and obtain prior period data from jurisdiction websites
  • Manage both compliance and strategic in-house accounts while providing input on standards and best practices for overall compliance efficiency

 

Support other client and practitioner functions including:

  • Train and Mentor new Sales Tax Compliance Analysts and Practitioners 
  • Conduct Peer Activation Reviews and other Quality Checks 
  • Facilitate Bi-Weekly TAX Matters meeting to promote knowledge growth and improve process efficiency within the Activations team 
  • Client Success Support

Position Requirements:

Project Management / Client Services:

  • 3-5 years of demonstrated client services experience 
  • High proficiency in client management 
  • Strong focus on managing and completing tasks on time 
  • Effective communication skills to work with various departments and levels of management
  • A proven record of accomplishment leading a related client service function encompassing client onboarding/activation and recurring monthly service delivery with high customer retention & satisfaction

 

Technology and Data:

  • Grasp of business applications and technology systems in support of operational processes.
  • Intermediate-level skills with Excel and Adobe (PDF Creator / Form Creator)
  • Experience working with high-volume data in a flat-file format (.csv, .txt)

 

Education and Professional:

  • A bachelor's degree with a preference for finance or accounting
  • 3-5 years’ sales and use tax experience required
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles required
  • Ability to analyze/understand complex sales tax filing requirements
