Controller / Treasurer

Position Summary: 

TaxConnex is seeking a Controller/Treasurer to add to our team. This would be a critical member of the TaxConnex Operations Team and a major contributor to the company's success. The role is a combination of Treasury Services (payment processing for tax return remittances) and Accounting. The role reports to the CEO/CFO of the company and partners with Operations to ensure the compliance process is successful. 

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Treasury

  • Monitor and control daily bank transactions with tax return remittances (over $130M per month.)
  • Manage positive pay activites with bank
  • Monitor and reconcile deposits into fiduciary accounts aligned by customer
  • Execute ACH Debit process to withdraw funds from customer's accounts
  • Execute ACH Credit payments and supervise check processing
  • Convert USD to CAD, AUD, GPB and NZ and manage related checks and wires

Accounting
  • Manage all aspects of the general ledger
  • Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Process payroll and 401K contributions
  • Prepare practitioner invoice summary and research discrepancies

Financial Reporting
  • Prepare and consolidate financial statements
  • Provide monthly, quarterly and year-end analyses

Internal Audit (SOC)
  • Assist with managing and monitoring internal controls and audit activities


Process Documentation and Support
  • Develop and maintain Treasury procedures
  • Provide input for processes and system improvements
  • Respond to Treasury support requests

Position Requirements

Experience and Education 
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • CPA preferred
  • 5-7 years in accounting roles with increasing responsibility, preferably including some public accounting
  • Assistant controller or accounting manager preferred
